Chauffeurs can now hone their skills on the mobile. The Mumbai-based Institute of Chauffeur Services, which opened in 2011 and has trained about 100 people, has taken its course from classroom to mobile. “With the classroom sessions getting a fabulous response, we decided to take the programme to the next level,” says Amin Merchant, founder of the institute. The Mobile Chauffeur Training and Grooming Programme costs Rs 850. On enrolment, a candidate gets an instruction book with a unique code. Using the code, he registers via a text message and can listen to voice-based lessons. The six-hour course is spread into 22 modules valid for a year. “I invested heavily in software and tied up with telecom companies.” Employers who send their drivers for training are finding the programme convenient as it can be accessed anywhere anytime,” says Merchant.
